A rare Commonwealth period lantern clock of rare small size by this famous maker of lantern clocks. The well-proportioned case has a most unusual, if not unique, arcading fret with facing grotesque animals, elegant finials and ball feet. The deep vertical shape of these frets is a typical Third Period feature along with the pierced 'leaves' at the top of the bell strap. The well shaped hand is probably original as are the bell strap and finial. The side doors are engraved with a circular motif. Circa 1655-1660.
